The Penti II is easily recognizable by it's gold finish (on the model shown) or silver finish, which makes it resemble a lady's makeup case or a cigarette case, more than a camera. Moreover the Meyer Domiplan 3.5/50 lens protrudes minimally from the body. This camera uses the Agfa Rapid cartridge, although this invention came from the other side of the Berlin Wall. It uses a selenium cell meter, with match needle in the viewfinder. The method of winding is quite unconventional. There is no lever, instead a plunger rod sticks out the left side of the camera,and must be pushed in to cock the shutter and advance the film. It is practical in use, but the protruding plunger does require storing with the shutter cocked, since it is not easy to store or carry the camera with the rod sticking out.
